The Core, Rotterdam

Updated: Apr 20, 2020

Architect:
Annebregje Snijders

Crashing the code:
Karwan Omar, Baeda Al Zamily, Qianyi Wang

Designed in 1964 as a new sales-office for Texaco, Gebouw Weena is a perfect example of architect Maaskant. To fit with the current time, the entrances, commerical ground floor and lighting plan are transformed. The entrances, not with steel and stone, like the original design, but with warm materials such as natural wood and sustainable leather. Through this, the building's identity has a more modern feel and fits the present. As much as possible in the spirit of Maaskant, but with an extra layer that the current time demands.
